9/9/99 AFTERMATH

9/9/99 AFTERMATH
*************************
10th September 1999
By Julien Moe

Despite the fact that the 9th of September 1999 passed in Burma wihtout any
upheaval, it does not mean that the dissent among the people and dissent in
the army is no more. The dissident groups abroad and NLD inside the nation
do not have to instigate the Burmese as the regime has accused before. The
people inside the nation do not appreciate the existence of the SPDC
leadership that has borne only trouble for the nation.

The news item above demonstrates how paranoid the members of the regime are.
It also shows the regime's determination to eliminate opponents from
anywhere and of any origin. The regime may have successfully passed the
9/9/99 wihtout any civil action by the people due to tight security measures
taken before and during the occasion. The 9/9/99 was a point of time from
which dissident groups, activists, expatriates and patriots take strength
for a civil-disobedience campaign that will disable the regime for the last
time.
