Centres of  pilgrimage,  recreation,  amusement 
in Yangon bustling with holiday activities


 YANGON,  12  Sept - The  centres  of  pilgrimage,
 recreation, amusement and shopping in Yangon were
 seen  bustling  with  activity  today as it was a
 Sunday, an office holiday.  Myanmars being mostly
 Buddhists, their free and leisurely time was used
 with  visits  to  pagodas,  probably  as a way of
 getting  away  from  the  hustle  and  bustle  of
 working  days coming  before  weekends.  The most
 popular  centre of attraction  was  obviously the
 Great   Shwedagon   Pagoda.   Families,   groups,
 couples  and  individuals  who  wanted  rest  and
 relaxation  were  seen at the  People's  Park and
 People' s Square.  Many,  especially  the  young,
 enjoyed   themselves   at  amusement   facilities
 swimming  pools,  water  slides,  joy  rides, and
 games including video-games.  Holiday-makers were
 also found to be getting rest and  recreation  at
 Yangon Zoological Gardens,  Shukhintha  Amusement
 Park  and  Myakyuntha  Amusement  Park.  Shoppers
 were seen calling at  department  stores,  market
 plazas  and  stores  downtown  and  also  in  the
 suburbs.
