NCUB Statement on First Anniversary of Establishment of the CRPP<br>
<br>
</font></b><font size=4></div>
On the first anniversary of establishment of the Committee Representing
People's Parliament (CRPP), we, the NCUB, affirm our position as
follows:<br>
<br>
</font><font face="Times New Roman, Times">1. </font>As the CRPP was
formed with the mandate of 251 elected parliament members from the
National League for Democracy, and 4 ethnic nationality parties, namely,
the Shan National League for Democracy, Arakan League for Democracy, Mon
National League for Democracy and Zomi National Congress, which had won a
majority vote in the 1990 general election, it is a legally founded
body.<br>
<br>
<font face="Times New Roman, Times">2. </font>The NCUB is firmly
convinced that the CRPP has the right to perform all the functions of a
parliament in the interest of the people and in accordance with the will
of the people.<br>
<br>
<font face="Times New Roman, Times">3. </font>At the present, holding all
the three powers of sovereignty, the SLORC/SPDC is ruling by the military
dictatorship system and scheming to continue ruling by the same military
dictatorship system, in the future as well. The NLD is leading in the
opposition against such a scheme, and the NCUB resolutely notes that the
CRPP is functioning in accordance with the democratic principle that
sovereignty comes forth from the people.<br>
<br>
<font face="Times New Roman, Times">4. </font>The CRPP has received
support from 4 cease-fire organizations, initially, and it has now
received, internationally, recognition and support from the political
parties in the Danish National Parliament, Belgian Senate, European
Union, Union of International Parliamentarians, the Canadian Government,
Legislative Assembly of the British Columbia, the Australian Production
Workers' Union etc.<br>
<br>
<font face="Times New Roman, Times">5. </font>Accordingly, we earnestly
urge the international community, governments, political parties and
organizations, and people from all walks of life to help and support the
CRPP in its endeavor, and strongly demand the SLORC/SPDC to immediately
cease the exercise of the three powers of sovereignty and all its ruinous
activities. <br>
