Senior General Than Shwe inspected the
development of Mandalay Industrial Zones
YANGON, 22 Sept - Chairman of the State Peace and
Development Council Commander-in-Chief of Defence
Services Senior General Than Shwe and party
visited Tooth Relic Pagoda (Mandalay) at 8.30 am
yesterday. Then, the Senior General and party
went to No 1 Industrial Zone in Sanpya Industrial
Myothit, Mandalay, and met with industrialists of
Mandalay Industrial Zone there. In his guidance,
the Senior General said. Afterwards, the Senior
General and party inspected power tiller,
finished wood products, engine pistons, aluminum
wares, consumer goods, rattan wares, parts of
lathes, electrical appliances, spare parts of
automobile, stone crusher, machinery for oil
mills, machinery for production of tiles,
textiles and various sorts of paper.
Then, the Senior General and party inspected the
development of Mandalay Industrial Zones No 1 and
2 by car. Next, they proceeded to Mandalay Hill,
and visited Hsutaungpyi Pagoda. The Senior
General presented donations to the fund for
renovation of Mandalay Hill. Then, the Senior
General and party inspected progress of work in
renovating Hsutaungpyi Pagoda at Mandalay Hill,
measures taken for greening of the hill and
documentary photos and viewed the panorama of
Mandalay Hill. The Senior General and party met
with senior military officers of the Central
Command and members of Mandalay Division Peace
and Development Council and Division Agricultural
Supervisory Committee in the meeting hall of the
Central Command at 1:00 pm . In his guidance,
General said. The Senior General and party
visited Maha Muni Buddha Image at 9 pm, and paid
homage and offered Shwethingan to the Buddha
Image. The Senior General signed in the
visitors' book and presented donations towards
the pagoda fund.
