Illusive bird of Truth

> Orwell's glory as a writer was his ability to see in himself and in his
environment the pain and the beauty of the human condition, and to report
it as honestly, clearly, and elegantly as he could. His success in
catching the illusive bird of Truth and putting it into a cage of words is
attested to by his continuing worldwide popularity.

Do painstaking writers like Orwell (and the editor of Windows!) go to so
much trouble in order to put the 'bird of Truth' into a cage? Or to set
it free? Truth may be 'elusive', but anyone who really searches to express
it in words (or any other art form) has got to believe somewhere deep in
the soul that truth is not an 'illusion'. Guess that's why 'word warriors'
always feel obliged to go to battle against every form of censorship.
