Dear Dawn Star,

if this is true, than my thinking is wrong. But if I sum up the
happenings now, I think I was wrong to think the giovernment may
organised the siege.
Meanwhile the border is closed, the Burmese waters are closed for
trawlers and since 9. September there are more troops along the border.
This means Thailand looses around 200 Million Baht (ca. 5.2 Million US$)
in fishing and several million Dollars more in border trade. Moreover,
if we subtract the economic interests - which is now the case - Thailand
sees Burma as threat to their country. Huh, the future really doesn't
look rosy. Let's see whether the next time will not escalate anymore,
otherwise Madelaine Albright is true and Burma turns to the most serious
threat in the region.

So, if they have been only keen on the ambassador (not a the most
powerful man in the junta), they risked a lot. A military escalation
means the end for all exiles in Burma.

Regards
Heiko
