Limited held the sixth annual general meeting
YANGON, 19 Oct - Union of Myanmar Forest Products Joint-Venture Corporation
Limited held the sixth annual general meeting at Forest Department this
morning, addressed by Secretary-l of the State Peace and Development Council
Lt-Gen Khin Nyunt.
Speaking on the joint venture occasion, the Secretary-1 dealt with the
government?s endeavours for progress of the private industries and
enterprises.
In conclusion, the Secretary-l stressed the need to strive for boosting
production with high momentum, enhancing exports and penetrating new
international markets for national economic progress; to take part in forest
conservation, forest development and arid regions greening projects to
prevent loss of forest which are valuable national heritage; and to
participate with most possible capacity in earning foreign exchange.

YANGON, 19 Oct - Forest Joint Venture Business Centre of Forest Products
Joint Venture Corporation Ltd opened at the centre at the corner of Strand
Road and Botahtaung Pagoda Road this morning, attended by Secretary-1 of the
State Peace and Development Council Lt-Gen Khin Nyunt.
Next, the Secretary-l unveiled the signboard of Forest Products Joint Venture
Corporation Ltd.
The Secretary-l and party inspected the centre.

of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement
YANGON, 19 Oct - Secretary-1 of the State Peace and Development Council
Lt-Gen Khin Nyunt met service personnel of the Ministry of Social Welfare,
Relief and Resettlement at No 4 Pre-primary School of Social Welfare
Department this evening.
The Secretary-l said.
In conclusion, he urged them to do social work in accordance with the State?s
social objectives for emergence of a peaceful, tranquil, modern and developed
nation, to make efforts in social development tasks and social care
activities for uplift of socia1 life of the nation and human resource
development of the nation, and to strive for emergence of a united and
consolidated nation building force through social development tasks.

(4) Secretary-1 inspects carving of Maha Bandoola Statue
YANGON, 19 Oct - Secretary-1 of the State Peace and Development Council
accompanied by Deputy Commander of Yangon Command and officials of the State
Peace and Development Council Office, arrived at University of Culture in
Dagon Myothit (South) at 5 Dm today.
Secretary-1 Lt-Gen Khin Nyunt inspected carving of Maha Bandoola Statue to be
placed in Danubyu Township and gave instructions to officials.
Secretary-l Lt-Gen Khin Nyunt then left there in the evening.

Shwe Pazun Co Ltd donate over K 14m to
religious affairs, development funds
YANGON, 19 Oct - Daw Khin Nwe Yi and family of Pwint Kaung & Khin Nwe Yi Co
Ltd and Shwe Pazun Co Ltd presented donations towards the religious affairs
and development funds in memory of the late Thiri Thudhamma Manijotadhara U
Pwint Kaung at Phanyin Dhammayon of Mahasi Sasana Yeiktha in Bahan Township
this morning, attended by Secretary-2 of the State Peace and Development
Council Lt-Gen Tin Oo.
Then, the Secretary-2 and party and well-wishers donated provisions to
Ovadacariya Sayadaws and Nayaka Sayadaws.
The donations today by the well-wishers amounted to K 14,040,000 including
provisions worth K 150,000 presented to Sayadaws and the congregation who
attended the donation ceremony.
Later, YeU Sayadaw delivered a sermon, followed by sharing of merits.

(6) Minister for Agriculture and Irrigation inspects
sugar mill projects
YANGON, 19 Oct - Minister for Agriculture and Irrigation Maj-Gen Nyunt Tin
inspected No 11 Sugar Mill Project in Paukkhaung, Pyay District, this morning.
After giving suggestions the minister inspected installation of machines at
the factory.
In Aunglan Township, Magway Division, they inspected No 9 Sugar Mill Project
where they discussed with officials on sugarcane cultivation, purchase and
transport and operation of the mill.
(7) They then inspected cultivation of crops in the township.
Afterwards, they inspected the Duringabo Pumped-Water project on Ayeyawady
River Bank.
At No10 Sugar Mill Project, the minister and party inspected the test run,
seeking means to provide adequate amount of raw materials and to enable the
factory to operate at full capacity.

(9) 33 members resign from Thegon Township NLD
YANGON, l9 0ct - Thirty-three members resigned from the National League for
Democracy of Thegon Township, Bago Division.
Thirty-three members of Thegon Township NLD, Bago Division, of their own
volition, resigned by sending letters of resignation to Thegon Township
Multiparty Democracy General Election Commission Office and the party
concerned on 12 October 1999 as they no longer wished to participate in party
politics of NLD.
