Be Sincere to Justice and Human Rights

Slipping away from the root of the SPDC embassy siege in Bangkok, some of
the media have blamed the Thai security forces for the events. In fact, a
thing like that would never have happened, had Mr. Chuan Leekpai government
already been in office in 1988. The siege is just a legacy of Chavalit?s
policy, just like the Thai currency instability in 1998 that Mr. Chuan?s
government has to bear. The Burmese still remember that it was the then Thai
leader Chavalit who rushed to deal with the Rangoon gangsters, before the
blood stains of the non-violent civilians murdered by the military had dried
up in 1988. He also gained several logging concession sites in exchange for
arresting fleeing Burmese students in Thailand and sending them back into
the hands of the butchers in Rangoon. Back then, the Burmese embassy in
Bangkok rewarded the "organisers" $ 200 per head for sending the students
back to Rangoon. Some students disappeared forever soon after they had
arrived there.

In early 1997, at a conference in Europe, Burmese Prime Minister in exile,
Dr. Sein Win, was cornered by a participant asking questions like "Do you
really believe that only non-violent action will overthrow the military
regime in Burma?" " Are you talking about non-violent struggle because you
do not have an army to fight back the military?" A Dutch lady diplomat came
to Dr. Sein Win?s rescue. She wisely answered the questions by quoting Mr.
Nelson Mandela: "Please remember, it is the government who has chosen to
take violent action against its own nation, not the opposition." she
answered.

There is no country on earth except Israel, which has continuous experience
with "terrorist acts" and taking tough and systematic security measures on
each and every square inch of the country. However, soon after the
assassination of Mr. Rabin, one high ranking Western security officer
admitted that there is no security guarantee as long as someone dare risk
his or her life in such acts. In fact a "terrorist act" does not really
require heavy war weapons or explosives. Remember, a mentally disturbed
Japanese hijacked a plane successfully with a small screw driver some two
years ago. It is still possible, that a Burmese young man, who has lost
everything in his life, like education, parents, brothers and sisters at the
military's hand, using amphetamine tablets produced by the Burmese military,
hits a Burmese diplomat with a bottle in a supermarket in Thailand. However,
again, there's still scope for a peaceful solution in the long run. Be
sincere to the words justice and human rights. And do what is necessary,
honestly and bravely, like Mr. Chuan Leekpai and Mr. Sukhumbhand regardless
of the orders of the thuggish Rangoon gangsters .
