Burma Out! Temple Balls : The final

Subject: Burma Out! Temple Balls : The final solution.

And the final word it seems.. as much as i have enjoyed
the debate.. and learned from it.

Got a memory that can cover the debate from beginning
to end?

if you all remember, and you should as Susu darling took
exception to the phrase, we posted that "some temple"
have been covered in all that glitter stuff.. right. i am afraid
that Susu darling immediately configured that we were talking
about Shwedagon. And why not? For we had also posted an
Okkarthing posting that refered to Shwedagon?

see Burma Out! Village Idiot gets bad dose of religion

(2 and 2 generally making 4... We all suddenly made 5...)

For in my converstation with those whose job it is to know
about these Burmese "things" this morning. I was reminded
that this documentray, on poverty versus the religious
doctrine of Burma that covered roofs with gold, while the
people starved was made by the BBC some months ago.
And so presumeably it does not. Repeat, does Not, refer
to the temple in Shwedagon?

In support of freedom. The BBC had repeated the
documentary. (Credit where its due huh?)

And so our term "some temple" was accurate, (providing
the original BBC report was accurate) to a degree wherein
we had not refered to Shwedagon by name. Nor would
we wish to, as we provided this information for a general
comparison between the polarities of the as then, unexpressed
core of the debate, "the teachings being the body and (in this
case Burmese) society being its shadow"..

(We would like to thank those who made that point on our
behalf.)

A valid point under the circumstances, don't you think?
Anyway, it was Sunday and things get a little "spiritual"
around here on a Sunday when one does not have to
concern ones self with those who prefer the burning down
of an embassy or two over a weekend.

(Just another glittering token huh?)

We would like to thank the junta for sending us a temple
history lesson. Religion is truly to opium of the people
under such conditions that prevail in "their land" and in
bringing a racist peace to murderers and state drug dealers.
And we will study this junta temple history with care.

In the hope that somewhere in there we will find a clue as to why
Buddhist priests in Nam could set themselves on fire. And as to
any underground network within the Burmese buddhist secular
community that works day after day to bring freedom to the people,
and to bring Daw Aung San Suu Kyi to her rightful position as the
popular leader of the nation.

Because there is one point to make, that has yet to be advanced.

During the struggle for freedom in S Africa, (apart from the
Orange white men) the Christian church (not only Bish Tutu
and ArchBish Huddleston) took a very secretive and very
prominent role in the internal armed struggle.

One wonders if roofs being covered with buddhista gold would
actually lead to a similar activation of those who are "closest to
the gods", when it comes to the "society being the shadow2.for
Burmese freedoms.

But as these are over sensitive questions to be asked upon
an open net. I have no intention of replying to any answers
that are published in public. However, on this direct action /
doctrinal point alone... Anyone can write and "straighten me
out" in private.

But one could certainly "relate" to such an active priesthood.

(And even 20 tons of gold would relieve a lot of the nations
frustrations)

So, as my bald headed postman arrives at my door this
lovely sunny morning in London.. And I write about "Temple
Balls : the final solution", while others get to dream about the
eminent J Edgar Fan club and the imminent legalisation of cannabis.

We well you wish.
