"I have decided what to do to upgrade the country and improve the economy. 
When
my mission ends, I will hold elections and I hope it takes place as soon as
possible," he said Monday. 

On Monday, Musharraf named a National Security Council comprising six military
and civilian leaders who will run Pakistan during the interim period. 

Musharraf will head the council himself. He will be joined by Air Chief 
Marshal
Pervaiz Mehdi Qureshi and Naval Chief Adm. Abdul Aziz Mirza, representing the
military. 

The civilians members of the team are: Sahabzada Yaqoob Ali Khan, a former
foreign minister; Mohammed Yaqub, governor of the State Bank of Pakistan; and
Attiya Inayatullah, a social worker and former adviser on family planning.
