 British Sea Search Under Way After Mayday Call

 LONDON (Reuters) - Two helicopters and four lifeboats are searching a
huge area off England's
 southwest coast after a mayday message from a ship, coastguards said on
Wednesday.

 ``No details of the vessel could be established due to an incomplete
distress call,'' a coastguard
 statement said.

 It said the search was taking place over an area of 700 square miles.

 One helicopter had to break off the search for a while to rescue a man
who fell over a cliff and
 broke a leg.
