Dear friends
I would like to share a little bit news about World Bank loan for Burmese
military regime. Yesterday, I and Saw Kapi, met with a world Bank officer
who is in charge for Burma's loan. His name Bradley Babson, senior advisor,
East Asia and Pacific Region. During his visting his daughter in Williams
Colleg, he was invited to have lunch with us at the Center for Development
Economics in Williams Collage in Massachusetts. He is also the one who set up
amount of loan $1 billion dollar Burmese military government. We asked many
questions regarding the World Bank economics report on Burmese regime's
economic policy. He said the report is draft. It is not final report. That
is why world Bank doesn't want to publish it yet. When the final report will
come, it will be available for every one who want it. He said the current
Burmese economic policy doesn't work. The government needs to reform both
current economic and political policies in order to get loan. The
government also has to initiate dialogue with NLD. When we ask him why the
current military regime's economic policy doesn't work? Is it because the
government doesn't understand how to run economy? He said that about 80
percent of the government economic policy failures is ignorance. He will
come here again in May for his daughter graduation. Probably we will see him
again.
