Buemese Student Situation in Thai

All Burma Federation of Students Union (ABFSU) Foreign Affair Committee
recorded Burmese students situation in Immigration Detention Center(IDC) on
current date as a follows;

Burmese Students Suffering Human Right Abused in  Thai ;

All Burma students must be reported for register at UNHCR office between
3rd Nov
1999 and 21st Nov 1999, if not default to report during that date  will be
taken
action against illegal entry  of Thai immigration acted that issues statements
by Ministry of Interior and National Security Council (NSC).  

After the  that statement , Thai immigration police crack down to Burmese
students living places of all apartments. When police custody students , they
never allow them to contact UNHCR  office, handcuff students to  place of hot
sunshine on several hours before students were sent to IDC.

On 23.11.1999, Thai police custody 4-students , their names are KO Maung Maung
Teik, Htay Lwin Soe,Nyo Thaung Thaung and Yin Than at UNHCR head office
compound.

On 23.11.1999, 5 students also  were arrested place  at UNHCR ?s FISRAPT office
in Sutthissan , their names are Ko Thein Hlaing, Ma Mei Mei Khaing , Ma Nan
Shwe Phaw Gay(a) Mi Nga .In that event police forcedly sent back Mei Mei Khaing
to Maesot (borderline) even police knew she was recognized  UNHCR ?s person of
concern refugee status in Bangkok.

On 24.11.1999, 5 students names are Ko Tun Aung, Ko Aung Khaing ,Ko Khin Maung
Tun, Paul Naw Seng and Ko At Min(a)Ko Kyi Shein were custody in Sam Rong
district to IDC.

On 25.11.1999, Zaw Nain Win and Tun Tun were also arrested to IDC.

On 27.11.1999 (Saturday 13;15 hour), Total  numbers of 19 students were took
out from IDC to Municipal Court  for file a suit of illegal entry. And then
they were verdict highly sentenced of  9000 Baht fine or six month  to jail.

Before they were sent to court , 2-immigration police officers and  1-NSC
responsible officer held a press conference to show them to reporters in
Immigration Bureau Office on 26th November. In that press conference police
office told reporters about  all 19 students will be faced taken action against
by violated of  immigration act in court to detain in Special Detention Center
(SDC).  

The following  brief accounts are Thai Authorities making  violated human right
upon Burmese students;
1.      9 students were forcedly sentenced before UNHCR registered deadline of
21.11.1999.
2.      5 of  23 students have already given fine money to the court of
Ratcharaburi for illegal entry although they getting a legal residence in that
province. That means they have no guilty of illegal entry , only they have not
taken  travel document   from Maneeloy Camp.
3.      Both of Ko Aung Aung (a) Ko Aung San and Ko Saw Tin Oo haven?t gone
trial yet to court even both of 2 were arrested near Burma Embassy in Bangkok
since 1st Oct 1999 by nothing reasons.
4.      On 26.11.1999, Thai police took out Ko Saw Tin Oo from IDC room No.
3 to
Court, police showed him to reporters for he was arrested  for illegal entry
after 21.11.1999 although he actually arrested on 1st Oct 1999 at near Burma
Embassy. 
5.      Police tried and lied to replace Zaw Naing Win trial as a Saw Tin Oo to
court .
(Now Zaw Naing Win was sentenced as a name of Saw Tin Oo, if Possible to avoid
media  due to Saw Tin Oo was arrested near  Burma Embassy seized on 1st Oct
1999).
6.      19 students sentenced dated were Saturday 1:15 pm , that  case is
irregular acted of court on Thailand. Moreover  
(a)     they were closed the door when they are verdict at court , 
(b)     trial and verdict as a hand cuff, 
(c)     trial and verdict as no interrogated by magistrate, 
(d)     trial and verdict as no lawyer 
(e)     police forcedly threatened to sign on verdict paper after sentenced. 
7.      All students never got a chance to present true story to reporters in
press conference.
8.      3 of 23 students , their names are Ma Mei Mei khaing, Ma Nan Shwe Phaw
Gay and Thein Hlaing  going  to Maneeloy camp by arranged of UNHCR on 24.11
1999  when they were  arrested at FISRAPT office even police knew it. 
9.      New prisoners of Zaw Naing Win and Tun Tun haven?t gone yet trial to
court by nothing reasons.
10.     All Burmese in IDC are
      (a )no chance to get a medicine, blankets , clothes ;
      (b) no chance to get a contact with some NGO nor UNHCR;
      ( c)no chance to get a use of telephone for contact with outside although
they are     
       tried a several request to immigration officer for above case only they
are getting 
      a no responded and ignorance.
11.     Zaw Naing Win and Tun Tun are separated with other students in room No
3.

All of above situations are the significant   of Thai authorities violating
human right upon Burmese students by purposed .

We all IDC students wish every democracy admirable  people in the world will be
pressured to Thai government for relief of human right to Burmese students  as
soon as.
