Secretary-l attends Htidaw hoisting ceremony of
Maha Arnanda Bawdi Pagoda in Bago


YANGON, 2 Jan-Secretary-1 of the State Peace and
Development Council Lt-Gen Khin Nyunt, accompanied
by ministers, deputy ministers, officials of the
State Peace and Development Council Office, heads
of department and officials, left here by car for
Bago this morning.

Then, the Secretary-l and party paid homage to
Maha Arnanda Bawdi Pagoda in the precinct of Maha
Zedi in Bago.  Afterwards, the Shwehtidaw hoisting
ceremony of Maha Arnanda Bawdi Pagoda was held at
the pagoda at 9 am today, attended by Secretary-l
of the State Peace and Development Council Lt-Gen
Khin Nyunt.

Also present on the occasion were Chairman of
State Sangha Maha Nayaka Committee Abhidhaja Maha
Rattha Guru Abhidhaja Agga Maha Saddhamma Jotika
Myingyan Koehsauungtaik Sayadaw Bhaddanta Sobhita
and members of the Sangha, member of the State
Peace and Development Council Chairman of Bago
Division Peace and Development Council Commander
Maj-Gen Tin Aye, ministers, deputy ministers,
senior Tatmadaw officers, and other associations,
well-wishers U Khin Shwe (Zaykabar) and wife Daw
San San Kywe and family and officials.

Then, Secretary-l Lt-Gen Khin Nyunt and party
received the Nine Precepts from Secretary of State
Sangha Maha Nayaka Committee Abhidhaja Maha Rattha
Guru Abhidhaja Agga Maha Saddhamma Jotika Magway
Sayadaw Bhaddanta Kumara.


The members of the Sangha recited the Parittas.U
Khin Shwe supplicated on the building of Maha
Arnanda Bawdi Pagoda.  Afterwards, Secretary-l
Lt-Gen Khin Nyunt and party presented offertories
to members of the Sangha.  Then, Secretary-1
Lt-Gen Khin Nyunt presented Seinphudaw and
Hnetmyatnadaw for the pagoda to Bhaddanta Sobhita.

Secretary- 1 Lt-Gen Khin Nyunt, Commander Maj-Gen
Tin Aye and U Khin Shwe and family sprinkled the
scented water to the Shwehtidaw.  Later, Agga Maha
Saddhamma Jotikadhaja Kyaikhtihsaung Sayadaw
Bhaddanta Pannasipa delivered a sermon, followed
by sharing of merits.

Kyaikhtihsaung Sayadaw Bhaddanta Pannasipa,
Secretary-l Lt-Gen Khin Nyunt and members, U Khin
Shwe and family conveyed the Seinphudaw and
Hnetmyatnadaw nine tries of Shwehtidaw from the
pandal to the pagoda.

Then, the Secretary-l Lt-Gen Khin Nyunt and party
hoisted the Shwehtidaw atop the Pagoda and
sprinkled the scented water to the
Shwehtidaw.Ministers, well-wishers and lay persons
hoisted Htidaw atop the 36 encircling pagodas.

The opening ceremony of stone inscriptions of the
pagoda was held.  Kyaikhtihsaung Sayadaw Bhaddanta
Pannasipa recited the Metta suttas.

Afterwards, Secretary-l Lt-Gen Khin Nyunt formally
opened the stone inscriptions of the pagoda.  The
Kyaikhtihsaung Sayadaw Bhaddanta Pannasipa and
Secretary- 1 Lt-Gen Khin Nyunt and Commander
Maj-Gen Tin Aye sprinkled the scented water to the
stone plaque.Then, the foundation laying ceremony
for the construction of the Aung Zedi Pagoda was
held at the pagoda.

The Kyaikhtihsaung Sayadaw Bhaddanta Pannapa
recited the Metta Suttas.  The Secretary-1 placed
the golden casket, gems and Shwe and Ngwe Bo Trees
on the foundation.  Later, the Htidaw hoisting
Ceremony of Tagundaing Pagoda was held.
Kyaikhtisaung Sayadaw Bhaddanta Pinnasipa,
Secretary-1 Lt-Gen Khin Nyunt and party hoisted
the Htidaw atop the pagoda.

The Secretary- 1 and party performed the ritual of
golden and silver shower to mark the success of
the ceremony.Later, a ceremony to plant a Bo tree
was held.

Kyaikhtisaung Sayadaw Bhaddanta Pinnasipa and
Secretary- 1 Lt-Gen Khin Nyunt planted a Bo tree
at the designated place.
