A Foreign Affairs Ministry statement says Mr de Cruz joined the Ministry =
in 1979, and has had various postings in the region, including Bangkok, =
Riyadh and Jakarta.=20

His most recent appointment was as Ambassador to the Philippines.=20

Mr de Cruz is married and graduated with an Honours degree in Political =
Science from the then University of Singapore in 1979.
