Food for Thought: 7 days of Magic from the Orient

The second ASEAN-India Food Festival is being held at Maurya Sheraton
Hotel in New Delhi from 27 February to March 4 and Burma joins in
promoting its food and culture along with nine other ASEAN members in
the festival. It is learnt that the master chefs for the festival are
specially flown in from the ASEAN countries and the neighbour India has
also joined in cooking her own cuisine.

The first day of the festival, 27th February was earmarked as "Burma
Day" and young girls from Burmese Embassy in New Delhi presented
traditional Burmese dance to the guests. The hotel is offering a buffet
during lunch and dinner with Indian Rupees 550 per head.

The inauguration ceremony of the festival was held in the evening of 26
February and India's Foreign Minister Mr. Jaswant Singh along with ASEAN
ambassadors in Delhi attended the inauguration. Amongst the Burmese
cuisine on the offer are Coconut noodle, Hilsha fish, Prawn fried with
bamboo shoot, Balachaw (mixed fried dry fish with chilly) and Gourd
soup.
