Secretary-1 lays cornerstone for construction of Tipitaka
Lankara
Dhammayon in Mingaladon Township
YANGON, 12 Aug- A ceremony to lay cornerstones for
construction of Tipitaka
Lankara Dhammayon of Tipitaka Maha Gandayonkyaungtaik in
Shwenatha Model
Village, Mingaladon Township, Yangon Division, was held at
the Kyaungtaik at 8 am
today, attended by Secretary-l of the State Peace and
Development Council Lt-Gen
Khin Nyunt.
The first session of ceremony to lay cornerstones for
construction of Tipitaka Lankara
Dhammayon. of Tipitaka Maha Gandayonkyaungtaik was held.
The Secretary- I and
party received the Five Precepts from Tipitakadhara Dhamma
Bandagarika Agga
Maha Pandita Bhaddanta Sumangalalankara (Ph.D).
Then, members of the Sangha recited the "parittas".
Secretary-l Lt-Gen Khin Nyunt
and party presented offertories to members of the Sangha.
Afterwards, Tipitakadhara Dhamma Bandagarika Agga Maha
Pandita Bhaddanta
Sumangalalankara (Ph.D),delivered a sermon, followed by
sharing of merits. The
second session of the ceremony to lay corner stones for
construction of Tipitaka
Lankara Dhammayon of Tipitaka Maha Gandayonkyaungtaik was
held.
Adviser of the State Calendar Advisory Committee U Kyaw
read the stone plaque.
Then, the Secretary- 1 presented gold casket with nine
precious gems to Bhaddanta
Sumangalalankara (Ph.D) and placed the casket into the
centre of foundation.
At the auspicious time, the Secretary-1, Minister Lt-Gen
Min Thein, Minister Maj-Gen
Kyi Aung, Minister Maj-Gen Saw Lwin, Minister Maj-Gen Sein
Htwa, Minister U
Aung Khin, Deputy Minister Brig-Gen Thura Myint Maung and
Vice-Mayor Col
Maung Pa laid the cornerstones. Secretary-l Lt-Gen Khin
Nyunt placed the stone
plaque on the foundation. Then, Bhaddanta Sumangalalankara
(Ph.D) and Secretary- 1
Lt-Gen Khin Nyunt and party sprinkled scented water on the
foundation.
After the ceremony, the Secretary- 1 and party performed
the rituals of golden and
silver showers to mark the success of the ceremony. Later,
the Secretary-l heard the
reports on arrangements for construction of Tipitaka
Lankara Dhammayon presented
by Managing Director of ACE Construction U Tint Hsan.
