Exiled Burmese activists today staged a protest rally in New Delhi
against the visit of Burmese Home Minister Colonel Tin Hlaing to India.
More than a hundred pro-democracy activists gathered at Jantar Mantar
this morning to register their protest against the visit.

Shouting slogans and holding placards, the demonstrators marched along
the Parliament Street, until Delhi Police stopped them in front of
Parliament Police Station. The exiled activists accuse Colonel Tin
Hlaing of being the second most responsible person in the regime for
holding 2,000 political prisoners in Burma. The activists burnt the
effigy of Colonel Tin Hlaing during the demonstration, which lasted for
an hour.

?Thousands of prisoners die in every year in more than hundred
prison-labor camps across the country under inhuman treatment and
Burmese Home Minister is responsible for that?, said a demonstrator.

In a statement issued today, India-based Burma pro-democracy activists
urge the government of India to review the present state-to-state
relationship with the military junta in Burma.

Burmese government delegation led by Colonel Tin Hlaing paid a nine-day
official visit to India from November 1 onwards at the invitation of
Indian Home Minister L.K Advent.

India and Burma have agreed to intensify bi-lateral economic
cooperation, effective border management and to conduct joint military
operations against the North-East insurgent groups along the 1,600-km
long India-Burma border.
