The research examined the provision, funding and regulation of non-state ethnic minority education regimes in Burma/Myanmar, and analysed the roles of various stakeholders, including teachers, parents, domestic and internati onal donors..."

Description: "This paper is based on the findings of the local education workshops, which were conducted by the national health and education committee. The workshops were held at (1) Mon area, (2) Karen area, (3) Karenni and Shan areas, (4) Central area where ABSDF is based, (5) Kachin area and (6) western part of Burma. The following topics were discussed: (1) children?s opportunity to learn, (2) Curriculum, (3) the teaching of mother tongue at school, (4) teaching methodology and (5) teacher education. The data in this paper does not include information from Arakan area and Shan area. Shan teachers could not attend the workshops and the NHEC (west branch) could not access to Arakan area due to various constraints..."
