"Nay Pyi Taw, 6 July — Entrance criteria for the Bachelor of Education at the University for Development of National Races will be amended, Major- General Tin Aung Chit, Deputy Minister for Border Affairs, told the Amyotha Hluttaw on Monday. In response to a query from MP U Salai Kwe Yan of Chin State constituency 12, the deputy minister said changes to criteria include a stipulation that parents of applicants must be residents of areas for which places in the course have been designated. Stipulations on the political activities of applicants will also be amended. Attorney-General of the Union Dr Tun Shin explained that debtors of fish farms able to settle bad loans or renegotiate payments would be exempt from lawsuits. Deputy Minister for Education U Thant Shin said the ministry is scrutinizing budget allocations for the appointment of permanent teachers at early child development schools. MPs and representatives of Defence Services also discussed other bills ranging from heritage issues to matters of the constitutional tribunal."
