European Union gives $2.2m for aid projects

"The European Union has allocated more than US$2 million to Myanmar for health care and other projects which will benefit about half a million people. The donation of two-million euros (about $2.2 million) will be channelled through the European Community Humanitarian Office (ECHO) to non-government organisations in Myanmar during the next 12 months. It brings to more than $6 million the amount allocated by the EU to aid projects in Myanmar since 1996. The EU announced the latest allocation in a statement issued on September 21..."
