The story of Rama was known in Bagan period according to evidence in Nathlaung Kyaung. It may at one time have been
a Hindu temple as well as Phetleik Pagoda. In the 18th century Thai artists brought from Ayudhaya introduced the Thai
Ramayana Court Drama. An early version of Myanmar Ramayana is the poem Rama Thagin by U Aung Phyo composed
