IMPLEMENTING DISASTER RISK REDUCTION IN MYANMAR

Description: 

In the 16 months following the disaster, Merlin has implemented a Disaster Risk Reduction programme within areas where Water and Sanitation (WatSan) and Health programmes are implemented. Covering over 9000 households across 60 villages in Laputta Township, Merlin has worked with the communities to raise awareness about the risks they face, promote a culture of preparedness and build community resilience. The programme has five main components: RISK AWARENESS RAISING, HAZARD ANALYSIS AND PLANNING, BUILDING COMMUNITY RESILIENCE, DRR INTEGRATION, ACCOUNTABILITY TO BENEFICIARIES
