Myanmar to respond to Gambia lawsuit at ICJ in line with international laws

"The government will take responsive measures against the lawsuit filed by The Gambia against Myanmar at the International Court of Justice (ICJ) in accord with the international laws, President Office Spokesperson Zaw Htay said. He replied to the question about the lawsuit during a press conference of the President Office held in Nay Pyi Taw on November 15. He said the government had expected over a month before that Myanmar could face a suit at ICJ. "Myanmar is a signatory to many international conventions. This is the mandate of ICJ. It has its procedures as well. The international laws are related to each other. So we will respond in line with the international laws," Zaw Htay said. Representing the 57-member Organization of Islamic Cooperation, The Gambia filed a lawsuit at the ICJ against Myanmar for allegedly violating its obligations under the Genocide Convention..."
