Pyithu Hluttaw 24 March, 2015: Pyithu Hluttaw promises Kalewa independence obelisk with park

Description:

"Nay Pyi Taw, 24 March— U Soe Thein of the Kalewa constituency on Tuesday put forward a motion demanding the Pyithu Hluttaw that an independence obelisk be erected in the township of Kalewa, Sagaing Region, before Independence Day, 4 January, in 2016. U Aung Thein, Deputy Minister at President Office, responded that the local management committee under the supervision of the region?s chief minister is making arrangements for the construction of the obelisk alongside a park on 0.064 acre of land near the Myittha bridge. U Nyi Nyi Myint of the Ottwin constituency urged the parliament to construct a bridge across Sittoung River linking Ottwin and Htantabin, with U Khin Maung Aye, Deputy Minister for Livestock, Fisheries and Rural Development, rejecting the proposal. He said the cost of constructing the bridge is not included in the ministry?s budgets for 2014- 2015 financial year. U Sai Tin Maung of the Laikha constituency proposed providing reasonable allowances from state?s budgets to trustworthy personnel assigned to election commissions, which the Pyithu Hluttaw accepted. U Win Ko of the Union Election Commission responded that an increase of travel allowances would be made through coordination with departments concerned."
