TNLA reports 5 clashes in 20 hours

The Tatmadaw (military) and Ta’ang National Liberation Army (TNLA) clashed five times on Sunday and Monday in Kutkai township, Shan State, according to the information department of TNLA.

"TNLA Major Mai Aik Kyaw said the clashes started at 2pm on Sunday and ended at 10am Monday. “The Myanmar army attacked us. We had no losses, but I am not sure about the Tatmadaw,” he said. Phone calls to Brigadier General Zaw Min Tun, spokesperson of the military’s True News agency, went unanswered. The military and TNLA fought in Nawngcho village, where TNLA Regiment 5 is based, near Mawhan village in Kutkai on Sunday afternoon. Another clash happened on the road near Tar Moe Nyel township. Three more clashes occurred at those places on Sunday evening and Monday morning. Three members of NeT Organisation and The HALO Trust who were visiting the area to educate villagers about landmine risks, and about 100 villagers were trapped by the clashes near Mawhan, according to the organisation. The organisations and armed groups in northern Shan have demanded that the trapped people be moved to safe zones..."
