NEW DELHI, India (AP) - A rusted watch, a cigarette lighter and
bits of metal led a hunter deep in the Burmese jungle to the
wreckage of a Canadian air force plane that disappeared during
 World War II.
Now, relatives of the six men who disappeared on June 21, 1945,
finally are burying their loved ones' remains, putting an end to
the mystery of what happened to the men.
``It's actually quite a shock. To be jerked back,'' said Elinor
Brown, who stopped in New Delhi on Monday with other relatives on
their way to the military funeral in Burma.
The plane had been on a supply mission, carrying rice from an
Allied base in northern India to troops in Burma.
Allied authorities gave up searching for it soon after the
disappearance. But the search resumed in 1990 when a Burmese hunter
reported seeing wreckage in the jungles.
He retrieved a watch with ``W. Kyle'' and ``R 199712'' etched on
 the back.
The hunter gave the watch to a Christian missionary, who found
someone who knew that the `R' was a mark of the Royal Canadian Air
 Force.
Veterans' organizations searched through lists of missing World
War II officers and came up with the name of William Kyle. The
others aboard were Peter Brown, Stanley Cox, David Cameron, William
Rogers and Cornelius Kopp. All were in their early 20s.
In November, Canadian officials traveled to Burma to arrange for
the remains to be taken to Rangoon, Burma's capital, for the
 funeral scheduled Wednesday.
The remains found near the wreckage were impossible to identify,
so Canadian officials have put them into one casket for the burial.
There will, however, be six headstones at the Taukkyan Cemetery
 near Rangoon.
